  • Summary: Good, but pricy
  • Comment: The package arrived and looked great. The packaging was elegant and visually well-designed, though I did have to hunt in several different cardboard compartments to find all the goodies this thing comes with (such as the USB stick that plugs into your computer). However, I then had to plug the thing in and wait hours before I could use it for the first time.

    Positive:
    - Very comfortable
    - Wireless works great
    - Mic quality is good
    - Charging cable is standard micro-USB

The microphone on this thing picks up my voice better than my previous Plantronics gaming headset. I was able to reset all of the Ventrilo settings back to neutral and using both GSM and Speex the voice quality was noticeably improved.

The headset is very comfortable, and with the lack of wires, I often forget I am wearing it.

    Negative:
    - Sound quality is passable, expected better at this price
    - Price

Regarding sound quality, I found it to be acceptable, but for extended music listening I will switch to my Sony MDR v-6's, which are cheaper and sound substantially better. At this price point I was expecting something I could use for both gaming and music, but I think it falls short for listening to music.

    Other:
    - Voice changing modes

The voice changing modes are fun to play around with. The "Malganis" option makes your voice extremely deep. If you already have even a moderately deep voice it may be hard for people to understand you using this option.

I had fun playing with the different options for fifteen minutes or so, but you can only say "Dabu" as an orc male or "For the alliance" as a human female so many times before you move on to other things. Neat trick but not a key selling point for long term use in my opinion.

  • Summary: Best Wireless yet...
  • Comment: I have been using a wireless headset with mic for over a year now, I have to say that I will NEVER go back to a wired headset. I had some problems with the build quality of my old headset from another manufacturer that favors the color green, when I saw the Creative Labs WoW set I had to give it a try.

The sound quality is amazing, the product is built like a tank, the removable mic is very nice, and I can get good reception pretty much anywhere in the house so doing housework and running to bio during a raid allows me to still hear what the raid leader is saying and get back to the fight ASAP.

The best feature though, it turns down Pandora (and other sounds) when someone talk in Ventrillo. This feature alone is worth the $159 price tag and I didn't even know about it when I ordered.

You will not be disappointed with this product!

  • Summary: Excellent Gear
  • Comment: I've had this headset for about 5 days and I am extremely pleased. The pads are very soft and my ears fit entirely inside the cups without any discomfort, which was not the case for previous headsets I've had. The charge seems to last a long time and if it goes out all you have to do is plug them into the included USB port and you are back in business. The sound quality seems great. I play more than just WoW and I can say that in several games I am hearing things that I have never noticed before. Bravo Creative!

  • Summary: Great Presentation, Little Functionality or Customer Support
  • Comment: I really was looking forward to this headset. When my pre-order arrived I absolutely was wowed by the presentation and overall look of the product. The comfort of these phones is truly amazing and I hope will be copied by others in future. Now for the negatives... The microphone did not work from the start... I can hear others in TeamSpeak, but they can't hear me (even after making sure my settings were correct). I also noticed that my Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard go all sluggish and wacky when using these phones. Attempts to contact Creative customer support were as unpleasant as could be. They make you drill down through seemingly endless menus before you can send an email to their customer support team (tip: make sure you have your serial number or you will get no customer support) -- no phone number is available. I sent my problems to them on March 5th via email and just heard back today (3/10/10)... Their answer? Try to keep the wireless headphones away from the computer's wireless keyboard and mouse, as they can cause interference. I waited 5 days for *that*! Kind of hard to seperate the computer keyboard, mouse and headset when playing a game on the computer...

The most ironic thing of all is the mouse and keyboard are acting up the worst in WOW when paired with the headset, making it unplayable. Looks like these phones are going back to Amazon. I love the concept and the look of the phones, but Creative's execution and customer service are terrible. Oh well. :-(

  • Summary: Awesome headset!
  • Comment: I needed a replacement headset as my right ear speaker was out. When I heard about these months ago I could not wait. Now that I have them, I am so glad I waited.
They have a very nice fit on my head and around my ears. I have worn them during hour(s) long raid sessions and did not feel any discomfort. The sound output it top notch in my opinion.
I have an iMac so surround sound was something I never setup, but this headset gives a pretty darn close surround sound to me. The mic works fine over Ventrillo and Skype. Being able to change the voice is pretty cool sometimes too! One thing I really like is the braided cord, never occurred to me that something like that would, but it is nice. The only thing I have noticed that I do not like, is sometimes when you turn the volume up or down (on headset or computer) the sound will become muffled for a little while. Now this doesn't happen too often and I assume this is a software issue and it will get corrected. The illuminating HORDE symbols are pretty sweet!! FOR THE HORDE!!
