  • Summary: Excellent Netbook!
  • Comment: Hello,
First off I want to say WOW.
This is an awesome little netbook!

    The size is perfect!
It is very thin and extremely light.

    First thing to note.
When you first turn it on it takes a little over an hour to "initialize".
So make sure it is plugged into a wall and that you DO NOT turn it off while it is doing this.
It may seem like it has hung but just give it some sweet time to finish.
There will be options to fill out information as you go so check in on it every once in awhile.

    The Operating System.
    Windows 7 Premium is amazing.
It runs so much better and overall smoother than any previous Windows OS.

After it has finished its initialization boot time is right about One Minute on the included 2 gigs of RAM.

The high res screen is very nice.
For only being about 12 inches it still manages to give you a good bit of room to play with.

    The Trackpad.
The trackpad is Multitouch and is pretty easy to use.
Especially scrolling. You simply use two fingers and glide down or up to scroll.
The pinch to zoom and rotate feel more like a gymic and I doubt many people will actually use it.

    Processing Power.
This processor won't ooh and aww you to death but it definetly can multitask pretty well.
The only time it slows down are on weird high def codecs.

When I was uninstalling the trial of MS Works 2007 it took about five minutes and than a additional five for each language pack to be removed as well.

Running Firefox 3.6 is pretty smooth. Multiple tabs are not a problem.

The HDMI out is very handy. It will instantly turn it on and put the audio out to the HDMI upon plugging it in.
I get to watch downloaded/streaming videos on my home HDTV without going through a middle man (Xbox, PopcornHour, Ect.)

Only con I have found is that its been "Nerfed".
Hopefully it will be updated / hacked in the future to allow the full 8 gigs of memory it is capable of.
I am still loving it though.

I upgraded my with some OCZ dual core RAM from NewEgg and it does help with the boot times and some heavy mutitasking.

Overall I like it alot and highly reccomend it if you want the best netbook available as of writing this.
Just remember this is not a gaming PC. This is for HD video streaming, word processing and web browsing.

    To conclude.
    Tiny netbook, good processing FTW!

  • Summary: Best value
  • Comment: I bought it because i needed a small laptop for traveling and with a reasonable battery life. I didnt want to buy 10" netbooks because of their small screen and basic operating systems they use so i focused on 12". It is fast, you can play games and it is light. Only thing i dont like is it's glossy finish so daily polishing is neccesary. Best laptop you can buy for this money.

  • Summary: Great purchase
  • Comment: I purchased this netbook and have not had any second thoughts. It's a great little laptop. It's size is deceptive because it's a strong little machine. I use it mostly to watch tv/movies and play World of Warcraft (which plays it smoothly at max settings)

My only complaint is the track pad and button. The button is a single bar and you click on each for left and right clicks. You have to push pretty hard and on the outer edges for it to click and found it easier to just tap the trackpad for clicking.

Also, the little bumps on the trackpad were annoying to me, and irritated my finger after prolonged usage.

It was delivered to me within 2 days of ordering it through Amazon, which was a terrific surprise

  • Summary: awesome, but still a few annoying things
  • Comment: The annoying bits:

    1) it supports 802.11n... but not on the 5GHz band. Sorry people, it's 2.4GHz only.
    2) ethernet port is only 10/100.
    3) this thing is a finger print magnet, and the glossy screen makes is almost useless when used outdoors during the day.
    4) Screen only folds back maybe 120 degrees, so you can't use certain laptop stands that have you fold the laptop nearly flat.
    5) gets great windows index scores... except for the processor which is holding everything back with a weak score of 3.3.

The good parts is this is the best netbook I've ever used; it can even play World of Warcraft on low settings, so I'm quite impressed.

  • Summary: Terrific little computer
  • Comment: This was just the perfect machine for me. I would describe our use of this computer as basic web and application use, but heavy on streaming and watching high def video. It is small, lightweight, but yet powerful enough to watch high def movies (1080p) on. Also I haven't felt the computer slow for any application I have used yet such as powerpoint, basic excel, PDFs etc. I usually find netbooks and computers with slower processors to lag and I find myself having to wait for applications to open. Not so with this one. The dual core really helps. Sure, this isn't a blazingly fast computer, but it gets the job done without much of a complaint. It is so easy to watch streaming video on my TV now. Just a simple HDMI cable and we get beautiful picture and sound on the HDTV! Maybe we can cut the cord with cable some day!

    Pros:
    - Beautiful 12inch screen. Does not cause eye fatigue
    - Light weight
    - HDMI output
    - Dual core processor ensures you have enough power for the basics and a little more
    - The ION GPU is terrific for almost all the HD video I have used it for
    - Nice keyboard

    Cons:
    - Battery life. If I unplug the computer, I can just about watch 2 full length movies while streaming to my TV. This is roughly 3 hours. I wish I had a little more battery life
    - The track pad is not the greatest, although its not awful.
    - Hulu skips a little bit when using firefox. I don't know why. Its better with IE. But all other sites such as Youtube, fancast, etc. are perfect.

I would highly recommend this machine. If you can wait a little bit, the 1201PN will be out in a couple of months. Check that one out.

Overall, I couldn't have been happier with this netbook.
