- Summary: Works just as they said
- Comment: I bought this transmitter because I don't have speakers throughout the house. To my surprise, the transmission goes right through walls and doors. My bedroom is around 50ft from the transmitter and it has no problem broadcasting very clear. The sound is as one were in a large empty room. I am satisfied with this product and would recommend it. Setup is very easy and support very quick. Thank you Creative!

- Summary: Better to be lucky than good
- Comment: It took about six hours to get this to work well. I believe most of the problems are with the software, which is both bloated and brittle.
The "manual" was a bit casual in its writing. For example, at one point you are advised to "reset all units" with no definition as to whether "unit" refers to receivers, transmitters too, or other devices altogether. Installing software from the CD, I finally got the transmitter and receiver communicating, but the sound was terrible. There were artifacts like pops, ticks, little dropouts that made music unlistenable. And this was using the line out from the transmitter -- no radio involved.
I had the wit to try it on a Win 7 laptop, and I had the good fortune to see advice to download Win 7 drivers rather than use the CD (which would lead to minor disaster). Much less software was installed, but it now worked pretty well. So I removed all the SB (SoundBlaster) software from the Win XP desktop, and installed from a download. Much better now. You may want to install the "Creative Entertainment Console" from the CD in order to get control over special effects, 3D sound, etc., so you can turn them off (for music, with good sound sources and good amplifier/speakers, these effects will likely detract from your experience).
Finally, when I say the software is "brittle", I mean it shouldn't matter if you install from CD and then use the auto update to get current versions, versus starting with the download. Also, beware plugging in the transmitter after your system has started: it will autoinstall from the device and be treated as a second SB Wireless device, and nothing works. Solve this situation with a reboot. Finally, the SB Wireless does somewhat interfere with my bluetooth wireless mouse -- hopefully this is only a matter of being inconvenienced to move the mouse USB receiver away from the SB transmitter.
Update: As an old-timer, I'm amazed that this level of technology is available for $40, but there are some compromises. The transmitted sound is not very good -- the receiver output breaks up at peak sound levels. I can reduce this distortion by lowering the level of the output to the SB transmitter with the sound mixer or SB Entertainment Console, and turning up my amplifier at the receiver end, but this means the levels are out of whack when you switch to a different amplifier input.

- Summary: Would recomend this fun product to anyone.
- Comment: Well, basically I was looking for an aftermarket sound card to enhance my speaker's output. I saw the SB117 model and was curious how it worked. I ordered one for 30 bucks on [...] and received this box that looked like it was worth 100. Great packaging and the quality of the product looks very good as well.
