  • Summary: Very good product
  • Comment: Very neat and compact PC. Only rub would be this model does not allow for a memory upgrade. With todays new software 1gig of memory may not be enough. However this little guy is easy to carry and goes with me on planes, trains and automobles.

  • Summary: Everything I wanted in a Netbook
  • Comment: I am very pleased with this netbook. I carry it everywhere...to play games, to get email, to download, to upload photos from my camera. It has more ports than anyone could use. I especially like the SD port as it makes it easy to upload my photos.

I will admit that I do have trouble typing emails as I have been accustomed to the ergonomic keyboard. But I do muddle along quite well and don't worry about my typos.

    Couldn't be happier!

  • Comment: After doing a ton of research about this netbook, I finally decided to buy it. I found a link on Acer's website that stated this netbook is capable of handling 2gb of memory but that they do not recommend or condone replacing any parts in the computer.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the ram module anyways with the netbook making sure it was exactly the right type. It was then that I found out why they don't want you to upgrade it. Let me explain:

First you have to unscrew every screw from the bottom of the netbook. Then, you have to carefully push in the clips around the keyboard holding it in place. After prying off the keyboard, you need to unscrew 3 more screws holding the bottom panel in place. Next, you need to loosen the bottom panel by sticking a screwdriver through some odd hole of sorts underneath the keyboard. Once a corner is loose, THEN you can carefully pry off the bottom panel of the netbook to access the ram. Whew!

Finally, I replaced the ram making sure it was properly secure, and then screwed everything back into place. When I turned on the netbook, it wouldn't even post let alone boot to Windows!! I don't feel like going through that ordeal all over again at the risk of breaking a component of my netbook. Thankfully, I have arranged to return the netbook to Amazon.

Long story short, don't buy this laptop if you plan on upgrading the memory.

On another note, the glossy netbook case is a fingerprint magnet and the touchpad is not bumpy as it appears to be from the photos. Other than that I would have been satisfied.

    Overall, very disappointed!
